The following applies to students holding jobs while in the PA program:

  1. The PA curriculum is very intense in terms of academic rigor and time demands. Additionally, it is important that students remain well balanced by allowing sufficient time for social activities, recreation and rest. Thus, students are strongly advised to forego employment while in the program.
  2. During the second year of the program, rotation schedules, testing, and breaks do not follow the university schedule thereby making it even more difficult to maintain employment. Furthermore, students may be assigned to sites that are distant and/or have irregular schedules including evenings, night call, and weekends.
  3. While on clinical rotation, students may not provide services within the preceptor's practice apart from those rendered for their educational value as part of the clinical instruction experience. Students may not receive monetary compensation for any work performed within the preceptor's practice or clinical site.
